Cleanse Your Blood with Chelation Therapy

The objective of chelation treatment is to improve health and nutrition. There have not been extensive chelation therapy research projects conducted to prove the effectiveness of the process as a medical treatment. However, the research that does exist suggests the successful use of chelation therapy and autism therapy in conjunction as well as the efficacy of chelation as an intervention for other serious conditions.
The results of these chelation therapy study projects have produced some quantifiable data supported by personal testimonials.

Chelation therapy can be given orally or intravenously. The essence of the treatment is the introduction of a chelating agent into the the body where the theory holds that the agent attracts substances like heavy metals and calcium and converts them for removal by the body's waste system. Originally chelation was used to treat heavy metal poisoning and is now considered by many to be an effective treatment option for various other conditions. For instance, chelation has been used in connection with atherosclerosis (so-called "hardening" of the arteries) and other forms of coronary artery disease.

The Chelation Therapy Process

The most common chelating agent used is an amino acid complex known as ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic or EDTA. This substance essentially bonds with metals with which it comes into contact and converts them into a compound that can then be excreted from the body through the urine. EDTA is usually introduced into the body via an IV. It has been shown to effectively remove lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic and aluminum and in the process to improve circulation, lower cholesterol and blood lipids, reduce high blood pressure, and enhance energy.

Another popular way of administering chelation therapy is orally, which is the easier of the two methods. The patients take the natural form of the chelating agents by mouth with EDTA still being the most popular choice. Studies have shows that when taken orally 5 to 18% of the EDTA is absorbed into the blood stream. There are many natural products on the market that contain EDTA and lesser chelation agents. (Be sure to fully investigate potential side effects and drug interactions before beginning the use of any product. Although chelation has somewhat fallen from favor with the mainstream medical community, information is available online and from alternative medical treatment facilities.)
