A million people receive EDTA chelation therapy every year in the United States but not all of them receive the treatment for removal of heavy metal from the body. Most of the treatments availed are by patients who suffer from heart conditions, unfortunately EDTA chelation therapy is not the recommended treatment method for those with heart ailments. Many people falsely believe that this form of therapy will cure them of all their heart ailments and so undergo EDTA chelation therapy instead of following the normally prescribed medical procedures. Such treatment measures results in a delay in getting the right treatment procedure and such critical loss of time could lead to deleterious effects.

Although EDTA chelation therapy is used widely to remove traces of heavy metal in the body, it has also been found to deplete the body of essential minerals. It should be understood that apart from the numerous benefits that are said to exist, there are many EDTA chelation therapy side effects.
