Oral Chelation Heart Disease

This is a major question to which we sometimes try to find an answer as to whether the oral chelators protect the Cardiovascular system. The human body can be affected by the metals that enter the system in many ways. There are many professions in which people come in close contact with harmful metals such as mercury.
Painters and dentists are only two examples of people who are more likely to inhale small particles of these harmful metals.

These metals can cause dysfunction in:
  • The blood and cardiovascular system
  • Detoxification pathways (colon, liver, kidneys, skin)
  • Endocrine glands
  • Nervous system
  • Urinary tract
When chelation therapy is applied to people with heart problems, harmful toxins and metals are forced to exit the body after which the healing process can begin and the body can restore itself back to health. This type of therapy is said to be particularly beneficial for people with angina and patients suffering from diabetes, but no positive results of any tests are known yet.

Is Oral Chelation With EDTA Potentially Dangerous for the Heart?

Many minerals are marketed deceptively as oral chelation treatments. These minerals are often celated (bound) with different types of amino acids to improve digestive intake of these minerals, by the body.

This is not chelation therapy at all. In fact this kind of treatment is the opposite and uses the chelation process to increase the intake of metals rather than removing unwanted elements. Some of these oral chelation heart disease products that are marketed as oral chelation are nothing more than vitamin and mineral supplements. Some of these treatments that contain significant amounts of EDTA are potentially dangerous to people with heart problems. If you suffer from heart related problems it is always best to consult a doctor before you start taking this type of treatment.

Is There Scientific Evidence to Prove that Chelation Therapy Helps in Curing Diabetes and Heart Disease?

Tests on heart failure patients for the reduction of oral chelation heart risks have shown that there is no real evidence that shows any benefits of chelation therapy, oral or intravenous. Of course your health can and will improve if you follow the advice that is usually given to people who are being treated with this type of therapy. Losing excess weight and quitting smoking will always have a beneficial effect on people.

With chelation therapy diabetes will hardly be cured but the physical condition of diabetics might improve due to improvement of a person's diet and an increase of exercise. There is no real evidence that supports claims of a beneficial effect of this therapy for patients suffering from ischemic heart disease or stable angina. Diabetes and chelation therapy results are hardly noticeable and are no different from the effects of a healthy eating plan for people with diabetes.
