Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
Ashtanga Vinayasa Yoga embodies the traditional eight limbs of yoga. Ashtanga means eight limbs. This yoga was expounded by patanjali in the yoga sutras. There is a mention about its origin in the ancient text Yoga korunta by vamana rishi. It is one of the physically demanding forms of yoga focusing the mind and body.
The focus on vinayasa is unique to this style of yoga. Vinayasa means the intelligent putting together of things .During this asana the students move into and out of each asana in a set of movements which is popularly called as surya namaskaar or sun- salutation. They are combined with specific breathing patterns like ujjayi breathing.
The main goal of vinayasa is creating heat in the body which can purify the body through increased circulation and sweating. It is a very flexible asana as it allows its students to practice advanced asanas without any risk of injury.
