Craniosacral therapy
Craniosacral therapy is also known as cranial osteopathy or cranial therapy. It is an alternative medicine used by craniosacral therapists or osteopaths to assess the functioning of the patient by keeping a close watch on their primary respiratory mechanism. It consists of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid of the central nervous system. Many supporters of this therapy say that the therapy can remove the restrictions in the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. It can relieve stress, pain and improve overall health. But many people criticize this therapy for not having any scientific basis . Some criticize the therapy for poor methodology.
It was introduced by osteopathic doctor William Sutherland. He studied under the founder of osteopathy, Andrew Taylor Still. Sutherland spent many years in attempting to disprove his theory.
Craniosacral therapy offer lots of benefits to children. A craniosacral treatment is carried out on a patient in supine position. The patient is required to be fully clothed. The best part of the therapy is the contact between the therapist and the patient involve lots of entertainment. The aim of every treatment session is to give deep relaxation to the patient.
