Types of Massage Therapy Oils

Many different kinds of basic massage therapy oils are available, and each one has specific areas of influence that make it the oil of choice - depending on the effect desired. Here is a brief description of the more commonly used carrier oils, to which one or more essential oils may be added, along with their purpose.
Sweet Almond Oil
This one is the most common oil. It is light oil that contains vitamins and minerals, proteins, and glucisodes. Good for most skin types, and is especially useful for dry and itchy skin. It has the added benefit of being anti-inflammatory.
Apricot Kernel Oil
Another good oil for all skin types, and it is useful for prematurely aged, dry and sensitive skin. Good for all types of skin, it contains vitamins and minerals. Its main use is to relieve stress.

Borage Oil
This oil has regenerative effects, and contains vitamins, minerals, and gamma linolenic acid. Being a light pale color, it is good for eczema and psoriasis.
Castor Oil
A very thick oil, yet it will help to cleanse the lymphatic system, helps to break up scar tissue, and draw out toxins. Use it on scar tissue, and on dry and cracked feet.
Coconut Oil
Having a light yellow color, this thicker oil is solid at room temperature. So it needs to be warmed before it can be used, and is good for all skin types.
Jojoba Oil
This dark-yellow colored oil makes good carrier oil because of its high penetrating abilities. It contains various protein and minerals, is antibacterial, and helps to balance the brain and the pituitary glands. It helps to break down sebum in clogged pores and is helpful to treat various skin disorders.

This list only covers a few of the more common carrier oils, but there are more of them. They can be used by themselves quite well, or mixed with essential oils for added effects. You can find these and other oils at your wholesale massage therapy oils store.

Besides all this, massage is not just for treating problems, it is also for fun with someone you love. Giving them a nice massage can lead to much greater things - especially if you use flavored massage oils, or edible massage oils. You could even buy a set of oils and leave it on the bed as a message, or a clue to fun ahead. There are plenty of things you can do with aromatherapy massage oils, but first, you need to go and buy your own set. These massage therapy oils can also be added to your bath water, and then get ready for a good, relaxing, and refreshing time.
