Effects Witnessed During Shiatsu Massage Therapy or Session?

Once you are there and your session begins, you will soon begin to feel some of its benefits. Although the pressure may be rather strong at times, it won't be long before you begin to feel a relaxation of your mind and body. Other benefits could include:
  • A restoration of your energy levels
  • An improvement in your circulation
  • A release from your tensions
  • An improved breathing
Note that some actual and physical benefits are received, partly because the underlying problem is dealt with. It also helps stimulate your circulatory system, your hormonal systems, and the nervous system - making you feel better. Relief and a proper functioning of these also helps you to think better, too - so it can bring about an emotional release, as well.

Shiatsu has been helpful to many people over a long period of time. While there have been reported a few problem cases - and some rather serious, it should be pointed out that all medical fields have some problem cases. Massage, in particular by its nature of applying pressure and rubbing etc. has always been known to have a possibility of bringing some harm. However, the percentages are so small, that they really are almost insignificant. One way to be sure of greater safety, is to check on the level of both the experience and training levels of the practitioner.

Shiatsu is becoming more popular all the time - even for expectant mothers. Some tests have been conducted which show that the mothers-to-be received definite benefits from the application of pressure - whether self-induced - or practitioner induced, even during their periods of morning sickness.

Is Shiatsu Effective?

This is the question that really matters, isn't it? From a few official studies performed in various countries, such as England, and Germany, the answer seems to be a definite "Yes!" Several surveys were conducted on the recipients of Shiatsu for lower back pain, and nearly all of them found real relief that lasted, and 65 out of the 66 involved said they definitely would recommend it to their friends. Many other studies are now being conducted, and some will soon be started.
