Research Conducted On Music Therapy for Depression

Researchers at Florida Atlantic University, USA, had conducted a research on depressed teenagers. The EEG (Electro Encephelogram, one way of monitoring brain activity) was used on frontal asymmetry of depression in teenagers when it was known that it is the basic character of adults. The EEG recordings were done for the 3 minutes period when music was played on 16 out of 30 teenagers. The significant revelation was that the improvement was tremendous during the music in all the 16 of them. This goes to demonstrate that depression music therapy has a positive impact on brain activity in depressed people.
